Who are we?
We provide insulation for the Western Isles, from the Butt to Barra. We provide the best service possible to our clients using local contractors.
Since 2013 TIG has been appointed managing agents by CnES to deliver the Scottish Government HEEPS-ABS scheme (The Home Energy Efficiency Programme Scotland- Area Based Scheme).
Our insulation department is on hand from start to finish to ensure any insulation works we undertake in your home is explained and finished to the best standard.
What do we do?
The combined HEEPS-ABS and ECO funding enables properties to receive insulation measures including solid wall and room in roof insulation. The funding also enables delivery of loft and underfloor insulation measures along with other smaller but very effective measures such as draught proofing, chimney balloons and reflective radiator panels.

We use the Webber External Wall Insulation system which uses 60mm boards of thermally insulating material that are fixed to the building exterior and finished with a weather resistant, decorative finish. Scaffolding will be erected around the perimeter of the house for those areas to be insulated. The majority of works will be external with only minor access required internally to isolate electrical components located externally and adjust/extend drainage fittings as required.
The works may include the stripping back of the existing wall linings to expose the original walls. The installation of a 50mm metal stud partition set against the original stone wall or a 25mm metal batten against the existing dry lining with 62.5mm British Gypsum insulated plasterboard screwed to the studs/battens. The new walls will be taped and filled and 2 coats of emulsion will be applied (white or magnolia).
Room in Roof insulation involves over boarding the lining of the internal roof surfaces with 62.5mm insulation backed plasterboard (The ceiling may be insulated via loft insulation above and plated with 12.5mm plasterboard). The affected areas will have skirting and facings replaced where disturbed, walls will be taped then filled and 2 coats of white or magnolia emulsion will be applied.
Knauf Earthwool Insulation is the product we use to insulate both loft and underfloor. In the case of loft insulation, we insulate to a maximum of 300mm to bring the loft up to current standards.
TIG can install draught-proofing to timber windows, timber doors and loft hatches. Draught proofing is a small but effective way to prevent loss of heat and help make a room more comfortable.
This is a removable insulation measure that stop draft from redundant open fires. Easy to fit and quick to install.
